dena's role and tasks

dena-LogoDena was requested by the German government's "Green Cabinet" for sustainable development, a committee of under-secretaries of state, to coordinate the "Renewable Energies and Efficient Energy Utilisation in Fuel Cells" pilot project together with the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie - BMWi). The sub-project on offshore wind farms is under the overall management of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety (Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit - BMU), working in close collaboration with dena and BMWi.

A strategy for developing offshore wind projects was discussed and agreed upon with the other participating federal ministries (for transportation, defence, consumer protection and fisheries). This strategy is presently being discussed and implemented together with participating German states, businesses, associations, and institutions.

Dena's tasks include regularly facilitating the coordinating process between the federal government and the coastal states, integrating different stakeholders into the political process, and informing the public.
