The first commercial offshore wind farm EnBW Baltic 1 has been completed in the Baltic Sea at the beginning of September. The 21 plants of the 2.3 megawatt class were erectet within one month and should be connected to the grid at the end of 2010. The annually generated energy should supply about 50000 households.

The second Offshore Summit takes place in Rostock from 2 to 4 September 2010. The aim of the meeting is to intensify the dialogue of European and North American energy companies. The participants come mainly from the Germany, USA, Holland and Denmark.
Oliver Heinecke is new managing director of All for offshore GmbH. The company, founded in June 2010 is the first service provider for offshore projects, offering all services from planning to transport up to maintenance and servicing of offshore wind power from one source.

The german association of offshore wind energy (WAB) critics the current energy scenario of the Federal Government created by the institutes EWI and Prognos. The EWI forecasts in these scenarios an expansion in offshore wind power of up to 17 GW by 2030. The WAB, however, considers the action plan for renewable energy adopted by the Federal Government in August and forecasts around 25 GW.

The Water and Shipping Administration of Germany has transferred property rights to the Helgoland island community to build a port for offshore services and to develop other areas in the south of the island. Helgoland will invest more than 17 million € in the construction of the new quay and other traffic areas.
