Tourism, the regional economy and offshore wind energy

Offshore wind energy offers excellent opportunities for the northern European coastal regions and could become a permanent mainstay of the regional economy. Involvement in the new technologies could result in the creation of jobs in companies throughout the value chain, improving the image of the coastal Länder. At the same time, however, the tourism industry is unsure of how wind parks at sea will affect tourist numbers.

dena therefore organized expert workshops on this subject on behalf of the Federal Environment Ministry with the aim of providing objective information and developing ideas and approaches for the integration of offshore wind energy into tourism activities and concepts.
